New Music Video: Special – Liv Lovelle

‘Special’ is the new single from London artist LIV LOVELLE. The tracks follow ‘Won’t Say Too Much’ and ‘All That Matters’ which saw Liv gain Spotify New Music Friday support across 8 countries as well as Apple’s ‘Best Of The Week’. To date her work has been streamed into the hundreds of thousands and has seen tastemaker support from the likes of Popjustice and The Line Of Best Fit.

With delicate influences of 1960’s Motown, 70’s soul and 90’s R&B, the latest release reflects a new sense of purpose and direction for Liv who elegantly combines smoky R&B vocals with a pure pop sensibility. Mentored by Nick Gatfield, who has guided the careers of music icons like Radiohead and Amy Winehouse, Liv is rapidly finding her own individual niche in the world of pop.

Song of the Day: Lifetime – The Radar Post

Esben Svane – aka –THE RADAR POST – steals NEW LEASE MUSIC’s Song of the Day hotspot with second single, ‘Lifetime,’ coming from his upcoming album  ‘A Good Adjustment To Reality’, expected for release in February

Following the release of first single ‘Pilots’, ‘Lifeline’ continues the project’s digression from the debut LP’s self-conscious folk roots. Relying more on a melancholic, yet hopeful aura, fused with a jangly-indie vibe, this Danish rocker is certainly now more shoe-gazer than folk cowboy.

THE RADAR POST is a solo project formed by former-drummer of pop band A Friend in London. The multi-instrumentalist’s last record came out two years ago which was preceded by two other EPs simply released under a solo moniker. Citing Radiohead as major influence on the rejuvenated sound, Svane’s setting his sights high for artistic brilliance, with good cause to.

With his record penciled in for February and plans to head out on the road in March/April (touring Denmark and Germany, respectively), THE RADAR POST looks raring to go again, and if you know what’s good for you, you’ll keep your radar on watch….

New Music Video: Dreamin’ – ADI (ft. KDC)

adi-dreamin-video-clip

After a two-year break, which she describes as “a necessary form of artistic hibernation”, Tel Aviv singer/ producer ADI (Adi Ulmansky) returns with a music video to her new single Dreamin’ . The latest banger is the lead single from her forthcoming EP, also entitled Dreamin‘, out next Friday, which also features self penned and produced single Pink Pillz.

Featuring US rapper KDC, Dreamin’  was produced by Eric Dingus (whose work features on Drake’s If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late). This is the first project that ADI has enlisted external producers whilst still co-producing the entire EP – a mix of R&B, hip-hop with futuristic beats.

Back in 2013, ADI turned heads with her debut mixtape, Shit Just Got Real and follow-up EP  Hurricane Girl a few months later. Jay Z’s Life and Times mag called her “matchless”, Vice claimed that they’re “obsessed with ADI“, while The Guardian noted that she took “her love of Radiohead and transformed it into clattering, MIA-esque pop”.

Upcoming Release: A Place Far Away – Goldsands

goldsands

GOLDSANDS’ latest single A Place Far Away tells the story of a faded film star’s unlikely bond with a neglected young woman after crossing paths in Tokyo, drawing inspiration from cult classic movie Lost in Translation. Sonically the five-minute masterpiece perfectly captures the size and scale of the movie’s cityscapes, whilst also encapsulating the mood of the relationship between the two characters. Self-produced in a converted apartment in Birmingham, the track was later mastered by Geoff Pesche at the legendary Abbey Road Studios.

GOLDSANDS’ genre-defying sound is most comparable to groups like Radiohead, The Beatles and Coldplay, and is the result of the band members’ eclectic musical backgrounds. Liam’s rock background provides a driving groove, Tom brings a jazz flare, Ramsey takes his cue from the experimental sounds of the 60’s, James gives suitable guitar ambience and Matt is a sucker for a pop hook. Two of the bands members Matt and Tom Rhodes are brothers, adding to the group’s tight sense of synergy. The group is set to embark on a UK tour spanning from London to Edinburgh – See their website for further details.

A Place Far Away is out on Friday…for now, have a listen.

Song of the Day: The Snow Is Falling – Cliff Lothar

If you love club music, raise your hands, cos I have a real treat for you. Check out today track, The Snow Is Falling by  CLIFF LOTHAR. The track is coming from his new EP, Old Jams Die Hard #1, which is a bunch of misfit old jams and throwaways.

In early 2013, the techno/dance upcoming maestro seemingly appeared out of thin air with the White Savage EP, released on legendary Dutch label Viewlexx.  His debut offerings quickly gained widespread support and has been charted by people as diverse as John Talabot, Delta Funktionen and Thom Yorke of Radiohead.

Lothar’s follow-up EP was released on the Swedish techno label Skudge White and has been instantly described as ‘sinister, dark and funky’. More recently, a collaboration with the ubiquitous Legowelt under the name Pagan Sector resulted in the rave-techno-deephouse hybrid EP entitled Hermopolis Magna, released on Amsterdam upstart Knekelhuis.

Never the one to hide away in the studio, Cliff has raised the roof in venues such as Panorama Bar, Have a Nice Day, NuMusic and Batofar, to undercover spots like Bargain, Humboldthain and Intergalactic FM Festival.

This guy is ON POINT and it’s well worth checking out his past work…but for now, have a bash at The Snow Is Falling.
