Cayley Thomas Releases Dreamy Single ‘Blue Jean Baby’

Coming from her forthcoming album, ‘What Else Can I Tell You?’ slated for release on 1st May, Canadian singer/songwriter and guitarist CAYLEY THOMAS‘ new single ‘Jean Blue Baby’, explores the pattern of feeling responsible for the emotions or actions of others at the expense of our own well being.

Cayley further elaborates on the smooth rockabilly-inspired single: “I think we can become preoccupied trying to do someone else’s work for them as a means to avoid our own self reflection.”

The accompanying video for single takes a sobering look at the situation. Watch the video for ‘Blue Jean Baby’ below…

Jiaani Taps Rich Homie Quan For ‘Lost Faith’ Video

With his debut album (‘10,000 Hours’) amassing over a million streams from January 2019, and three new loose singles already under his belt since the fourth quarter of last year, JIAANI (pictured right in the above photo) keeps the momentum going with the Terrius Mykel-directed music video for his new Buckroll-produced single ‘Lost Faith’, featuring Rich Homie Quan.

Speaking of his track and video, Jiaani says: ” ‘Lost Faith’ was really a reminder to myself to stay focused, at the time everything around me was changing. I was making more money but I had toxic relationships that I had to shed, and it was basically my rebirth. At the time, Rich Homie Quan was going through similar things with the label situation and in his personal life, so once we chopped it up and built a friendship, it just flowed, and Terrius Mykel really captured my vision for it with the video. Life is an opportunity everyday. We all take losses, but work ethic and a strong mindset will build you.”

The North Carolina emcee started out under the guidance of rapper 9th Wonder and went on to collaborate with the likes of Freeway, Fred The Godson, and Gillie Da Kid.

Album Review: Almanac – Neru Thee Fourth Fugee

NERU THEE FOURTH FUGEE‘s highly anticipated album, ‘The Almanac’ comes from the back of the Baltimore emcee spending the past four years on the road, opening and performing alongside the likes of The Roots, IDK and Princess Nokia, and projects ‘The Reincarnation’ and ‘Enlightenment Era’ from 2014, both met with critical acclaim.

Produced by the Neru along with her Hippy Trippy Collective, rap rising star Deetranada, Ill Camille and Baltimore newcomer DopeSol –  all who make appearances on the project – ‘The Almanac’ firmly challenges the prospective listener’s musical taste with its transcendental harmonies and trance-like kaleidoscopic melodies, which merges elements of hip hop, neo-soul, funk, ambient and psychedelic music.

‘The Almanac’ is definitely one of those albums you can kick back and relax to after a long day of hard hustle. So when you have the chance sit back, relax and broaden your musical horizons with this set…

Song of the Day: Ferrari – Julian Mika

North West Londoner JULIAN MIKA‘s latest single ‘Ferrari’ is a dream-trap joint exploring the thin line between what’s real and what’s fake.

At the age of 17, Julian, alongside childhood friend Ryo, formed music group Grand Wa Zoo and dropped two well-received projects under Scope Music Management. Mika now drops his debut solo project ‘LinkPhone’ and with ‘Ferrari’ being the first taste of what’s to come, it’s set to make a statement. ‘Ferrari’ is a melodic dream-trap banger with London injections, drawing inspirations from his favourite heavyweights in the scene such as J Hus, Benji Flow and Octavian. With lyrics like.

Speaking on the track Julian states:

“The lines between a fantasy, a lie and the truth have become blurred. Ferrari’s about navigating yourself within the maze at high speed”.

Born in Rome to a Sicilian mother, Julian moved from city-to-city throughout his childhood before settling in the UK at aged 10. His turbulent background and constant reintroduction to different, unfamiliar cultures and societies caused him to have a warped view on life, often feeling like an outsider looking in. With this perspective that always let him see things from a step back, Julian turned to music as a vice for his unique thoughts.

With support for his previous single ‘Pattern’ from Dummy Mag completely organically, it’s clear Julian’s music appeals to the masses. He’s now ready to level up and make a statement. His forthcoming EP ‘LinkPhone’ toys with the symbolism of a typical ‘burner phone’ representing the simple yet needed link between Julian and his audience. Not only this but it also symbolises the function of what phones are used for at the core, conversation, without distraction from anything else (social media) and Julian wants this to be represented while listening to ‘LinkPhone’.

With talent in music, along with impeccable imagery and style Julian Mika is a be a force to be reckoned with in London’s rapidly evolving scene. ‘Ferrari’ takes us on a journey through Julian’s mind as an outsider looking in and with a full EP set to drop very soon…Check him out below…
