Tunnel Traffic Unveils ‘Another Story’ Ahead Of Album

Philly songwriter Adam Hachey – aka TUNNEL TRAFFIC – tries something a little different with his brand new single, ‘Another Story’, released yesterday (12th November).

For a change, Hachey steps back and makes way for singer and long collaborator, Jacky Muñoz’s feathery vocal instrument to wash over the nostalgic, shoe glaze – esque arrangements.

‘Another Story’ serves as the first teaser from his upcoming LP, ‘Age of Convictions’, set for release next month. Hachey will release a single each week, until the arrival of the album

Song of the Day: Toxicity – Teri Eloise

Singer, songwriter and record producer, TERI ELOISE  is calling out all the emotional vampires for her latest single ‘Toxicity’, a fierce and riveting trap infused pop song that showcases a never before seen or heard side of the 22 year old artist.

The track’s distinctive sound was produced, mixed and mastered by Richard Mcclashie –  aka M.R.I. –  a fellow Caribbean producer who has worked with the likes of Post Malone, Cardi B, French Montana and Caribbean heavyweights Sean Paul, Vybz Kartel and Shenseea.

In contrast to her sweet, bright and summery single, ‘Common Sense’ which laments the idea of being blinded by infatuation, ‘Toxicity’ delves into a darker aesthetic with fiercely direct and defiant lyrics over an infectious trap beat.

Lyrically, ‘Toxicity’ embodies impeccable word play that fires up a fierce and resilient attitude, juxtaposed perfectly with her airy-toned yet commanding vocals. “Your toxicity is too persistent, and I’m just tryna keep the peace consistent” Teri chants, followed by savagely written verses which directly point out negative unhealthy traits of a toxic relationship. Teri ends the song singing “I don’t want it, get out of my way” and there is no denying that this is an anthem for anyone who is over toxic relationships and ready to fight back. Once again, the British born, Trinidadian raised songwriter shows her ability to express loaded emotional experiences in a way that is very relatable.

Since its release late last month, ‘Toxicity’ received support from the likes of BBC Introducing  as well as Dan Blakes’ set on Pulse88 Radio.

Isaac B Drops Latest Visuals For ‘SNE HNE’

known for his freestyle prowess, London born, Florida brewed ISAAC B, returns with the visuals for his second single: ‘See No Evil, Hear No Evil’(SNE HNE).

From its hypnotic production, to lyrical rhapsody, we are journeyed through the themes of ill-judgement, deceit, snitching and murder.

With subtle nods to the death of one of his hometown infuences, XXXtentacion, a reflection upon the very streets that saw Isaac’s talent develop, ‘SNE HNE’ is loaded with sombre imagery, mirrored in the spine-chilling video.

Laced with lowkey haunting samples, echoing news reports, and police tapes, listeners are transcended to the centre of a crime scene. With a shadowy all-consuming ambience, it reveals the senseless loss of talent, potential and life.

So here’s your chance to check out video for the downtempo banger below…

Album Review: Flowers Of Doubt – Rain To Dust

A hazy melodic theme, heavily influenced by post punk of the early 1980’s, runs throughout Mert Yıldız’s  – aka RAIN TO DUST –  debut album, ‘Flowers Of Doubt’. Beyond buttery soundscapes, it’s very safe to say that the lyrics are far from melodic….

Every song on the album revolve around how fear brings a need for dependence which consequently breeds more fear, eventually pushing the human being into a shell of personal dogmas and psychological routines that he/she will probably end up dying within.

Introducing the eight-track album is title track, ‘Flowers Of Doubt’, which was inspired by the suicide attack that took place in İstiklal Street, Taksim, İstanbul in March 26th, 2016. The cover photo which was taken in Taksim, in the exact same spot, roughly 2 years after the event.

‘Drinking The Ghosts’, carries the themes of fear and doubt with a story that was inspired by Mika Kaurismaki’s ‘Zombie And The Ghost Train’. It is about the downward spiral of an alcoholic who eventually finds relief from shame in death.

Taking its title from an Osamu Dazai novel, ‘A Farewell With Regret’ is about two people having a one night stand and deciding to hide their true feelings from each other out of fear of emotional rejection. Musically, it references Funk influenced bands of British New Wave with its groovy rhythm, funky electric guitar licks and vocal harmonies.

After several listens, ‘Flowers of Doubt’ becomes a brutally honest production but, at times, I cannot help but feel a agree of empathy to the easily relatable stories featured. It’s worth a trial; have a listen below…
