Song of the Day: Duck Off – La’ Britany

Actress and singer/songwriter LA’BRITANY’s single ‘Ducked Off’ is all about putting herself first in the face of unrequited love.

The single debuted on ALLBLK network’s The Notorious Queens series which features some of the most talked-about women from reality TV, where La’Britney stars in the show alongside Stormey Ramdhan, Tonesa “Toni” Welch, and Mehgan James.

The former Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood star found online fame from her popular “LaMix” song cover and choreography videos– many of which went viral and earned her global attention and nods from 50 Cent, among others. This fueled her to release a string of hits, ‘Booty Drop’, ‘Xxxtra’, and ‘Actin’ Funny’. The latter accumulated millions of streams and channeled La’Britney’s voice over mainstream radio stations.

Hip-Hop Newcomer Supreme Releases New Single, ‘Thug Thizzle’ From Forthcoming EP

Carving his own lane in rap music as the son of a legendary emcee of arguably one of hip-hop’s most recognizable brands is no easy feat. But Staten Island native SUPREME is more than ready to take on the task, with a brand new EP Love Jones, set to release this summer. The project’s lead single, ‘Thug Thizzle’, a super smooth joint which anthems taking life’s ups and downs in your stride.

Speaking on the release, Supreme say: “‘Thug Thizzle’ is basically me saying ‘I’m going to be alright with whatever life throws at me. There was a time in college- around the end of my sophomore year at Morgan State -where I wanted to drop out. I felt regretful, like if I never went to college I would have already been progressing in my music career. The only reason I went to college was to be a role model to my younger sister, and to make my mother proud. I was the only one in my immediate family to go to college. When Nipsey Hussle was murdered, I gained a new perspective. It’s like it took for his passing to put me back in my place. That’s when I started writing ‘Love Jones’. I started merging music with school work, and I started getting A’s.”

Based on the importance of relationships with family and loved ones, the Love Jones EP takes an honest approach, addressing relationships with his mother, brother, and even his complicated relationship with his father (woven throughout the project are recordings of real phone conversations between Supreme and his father, Ghostface).

Check out Toosii’s New Video For Track, ‘Red Die’

After celebrating the release of his new mixtape, ‘Thank You For Believing’, and his latest career milestone – surpassing one billion combined global streams across all of his songs – TOOSII is back with a new video, ‘Red Die’. Filled with friends, cash and cars, the clip’s joyful sense of comradery is balanced by Toosii’s memories of loved ones who have departed and the existential questions that haunt him – “Ask God ‘why me?’/Must be two sides to the story siamese.”

‘Red Die’ is the closing track from ‘Thank You For Believing’, which debuted in the top 25 of the Billboard 200. Other standout tracks include ‘What It Cost” and ‘Back Together,’ which appeared on XXL’s weekly list of “best new songs.”

Toosii has proven to be one of rap’s most relatable rising stars. While his career has been percolating in North Carolina for years, Toosii found staggering success in February 2020 on the strength of Platinum Heart. The album hit No. 1 on Billboard’s Heatseekers Albums chart and launched Toosii into the top 10 of Rolling Stone’s Breakthrough 25 chart. He quickly followed those achievements with Poetic Pain in September 2020. Toosii earned his first Gold record in January 2021 – for his top 10 Urban radio hit, ‘Love Cycle’. He is Audiomack’s latest #UpNow artist and Billboard named him as an artist to watch, noting, “Toosii is coming for the crown.”
