EP Review: Mythologies – Lex Leosis

From a personal standpoint, LEX LEOSIS is a prime model of a female rapper: a very bold contender, who isn’t afraid to say what’s on her mind and doesn’t take any crap from anyone. These qualities are evident in her brand new EP, ‘Mythologies’

The set covers array of topics – from standing up to domestic violence to dealing with ‘situationships’ and busy bodies head on.

Although ‘Mythologies’ predominantly showcase a menacing drive of trip-hop, there are nice touches of retro/80s soul funk (featured in second effort, ‘Ouzo’) and laid-back afterhours (as featured in Gemini), where the Canadian rapper tells her tale of certain aspects of her life.

You may have come across various music blogs and magazines, pushing you to add a punch of newcomers under your radar…and among those talents should be Lex Leosis, as her flow rips through the bars of each track with raw passion and conviction. Check her out below…

ThBenj Offers Hope During The COVID-19 Period Through Track, ‘Y’, Out Today

Hot out of the booth, singer, rapper, songwriter and producer THBENJI has dropped his third single for the year ‘Y’, a follow up to his most recent singles, ‘2020’ and ‘Reasöns’ which dropped earlier this year.

‘Y’ is an emotional & uplifting song which he hopes encourages people across the globe to notice and appreciate the simple things in life. With the spread of the COVID-19 virus he hopes the song will will bring some relief to the anxieties that a lot of people are feeling and encourage people to be there for each other.

Speaking of the release ThBenj says: “It is a time for each of us to set up, support each other, be kind and give to those in need”. We all play a part, we all have a responsibility”.

Born in Sardinia, ThBenj built his career performing and working with other industry professionals throughout Australia, Ibiza, The Netherlands, Sardinia and Italy.

After spending the last few years on his home island where he wrote and recorded his 2019 debut album ‘T.H.B.’ – which hit number one on Google Play for Hip Hop in Italy and number one on NEW LEASE MUSIC’s Top Ten Albums of 2019 list – he is back in Melbourne and has set up his studio with a focus on creating and releasing new music.

JD CLIFFE has been causing a scene in the UK rap game for over the past year. Having shared the stage with Kojo Funds and Smoke Boys, the smooth rapper returns with his first single of the year ‘Come Again’.

JD’s smooth, melodic flow has carried him from strength to strength. Song of the Day: Lose – KJDBRD

Rising amongst the scene as Melbourne’s pivotal rapper, KJDBRD lets go of his fears on his new empowering single ‘Lose’ accompanied by visuals.

The video was directed by Buster Williams, and sees dancer Dani Weaver setting the scene. The track was written as a personal promise to KJDBRD not to give up on life in no matter how hard and merciless it sometimes may appear.

On the single, he said, “There is beauty everywhere and opportunity, I hope the song makes people feel empowered and ready for the world. I hope people can listen to this and be ready to take on the world not scared to lose anymore.”
