Watch Classified’s Video for Track, ‘Day Doesn’t Die (Retrospected)’

Hip hop artist, songwriter and producer CLASSIFIED (aka Luke Boyd) shares a look into his life growing up in a small neighbourhood in Enfield, Nova Scotia with his latest acoustic version and video for ‘Day Doesn’t Die (Retrospected)’, the second release from the anticipated RETROSPECTED, his forthcoming hip-hop acoustic album due out later this spring.

With appearances from Classified’s parents, his grandfather’s best friend and mention of his friends and neighbours, ‘Day Doesn’t Die (Retrospected)’ offers viewers an intimate and emotional look at the subdivision where Classified grew up, while at the same time sharing the message that even though time has passed and things have changed, what remains (for life) are the memories and impact the community has had on his life.

About the song, Classified shares, “To me, the DNA for Day Doesn’t Die is about learning how to forgive people. A lesson I’ve learned is that holding grudges for so long isn’t healthy and we do need to let go to grow as individuals. While writing this song I wanted to dig deeply into my emotional side, and I think the chorus really helps get across the hope that I want this song to be for people. I’m not saying that we forget past wrongs, but I think the activity of reflecting and letting go is a much healthier state of being.

Song of the Day: Thinking Of You (Déjà Vu) – Tilly Valentine

TILLY VALENTINE‘s her latest single ‘Thinking of You (Déjà Vu)’ is a great escapism song. So when things in reality doesn’t go to plan, let subconscious dreams kick in and play things the way you would like them to go.

Valentine says: “Sometimes your subconscious just can’t let someone go, and your dreams keep taking you where you’ve been before.” Her first single of the year was co-written by artist and writer, Jack Vallier, and produced at Numen Studios (Dermot Kennedy, Emily Burns, Dua Lipa, Zara Larsson and more).

The independent artist has been described as “the type of quirky you can pair with a coffee or a party”, as her self-releases gain BBC broadcast across BBC Radio 1, 1Xtra, 6 Music, The Hot List, BBC Introducing Mixtape, Jazz FM, Fresh on the Nets Track of the Week 2021, BBC Introducing Best of 2020 and more.

‘Thinking of You (Déjà Vu)’ sets the tone for 2022 to be Tilly Valentine’s best year yet. Have a peep at her visual for the single below…

Song of the Day: Judge Me – Ludic

Vancouver alt-pop group LUDIC‘s single ‘Judge Me,’ the first release off their debut EP out in April 2022, marks the first time that guitarist Ayla Tesler-Mabe has joined bassist/lead vocalist Max Cunningham on vocals, to create a velvety smooth duet.

The song was written about feeling lonely in a relationship and feeling like you can’t do anything right; the constant effort to try and change is not working and is instead being met with more criticism by the other half.

‘Judge Me’ is a step forward for Ludic – while it retains the quirky and offbeat sound of their previous releases, there is an undeniable maturity that permeates their new work.
