Song of the Day: Overtime – House Marked X

Australian hip-hop project HOUSE MARKED X has made their entry onto the blog with debut track, ‘Overtime.

The track introduces the act’s vision of hip-hop-Noir – a heavy driven trap sound -which is influenced by the current landscape of dark melodic hip-hop, akin to the likes of Travis Scott and Future. To add extra spice, House Marked X fused their heavy trap trademark with Electronic music and R&B.

“Nothing hurts more than introducing a girl to a place and you break up but she keeps going to that place so now you have to find a new place that’s basically what ‘Overtime’ is about.” – House Marked X

Currently based in Melbourne, House Marked X, looks to take advantage of the city’s already bustling hip-hop scene…so expect more music from this collective. Have a listen to their buzzing joint below…

Song of the Day: Vices – Alfie Neale

Originally from Dorset, now based in Brighton, singer-songwriter ALFIE NEALE has been steadily building his fanbase with songs full of emotion and blunt honesty, where he pours his soul into every lyrics he writes.

His latest ‘Vices’ is a true testament of the above, as it reflects the compilation of his experience of moving to a new city (Brighton) and living with five of his best friends for two years. The song describes the importance of the little things in life, and how much support friends must show each other through the hard times. Although the bottom line of the song is serious there are less serious aspects to the song such as simple case of not having enough money to get a taxi home from a night out in Brighton.

The track is part of Alfie’s forthcoming five-track EP Titled ‘If My World Falls Apart’, set for release in March. To support the EP Release, Alfie will be playing a London headline show on April 30th at Colours Hoxton and a short run of city festivals including Live at Leeds, Hit The North and Liverpool Sound City.

Song of the Day: So Fly – Fly Von

After a very lengthy hiatus, one of NEW LEASE MUSIC’s longstanding staples – FLY VON – starts afresh this year with two releases – ‘High Fly’ and ‘So Fly’.

‘So Fly’ has made it to today’s top spot for its afterhours-trap combo. Check it out below…and while you’re at, why not check out the downtempo ‘High Fly’ right here.

Song of the Day: Breakup Tutorial – Laraw

LARAW‘s latest single, ‘Breakup Tutorial’, is probably one of her rawest material to date. Draped in downtempo pop soundscapes, which builds up to raging emotive guitar riffs, her latest effort chronicles a traumatic breakup which stills resonates with the Canadian singer/songwriter and reaches out to those who lived through the same experience.

More music on the way from this talented contender…but for now, have a listen to ‘Breakup Tutorial’…

Song of the Day: Sick Of The Radio – Amy Petty

With airy soundscapes – or should I say dreamscapes – which eloquently meets layers of alluring backing vocals, it comes to no surprise that AMY PETTY‘s single, ‘Sick Of The Radio’ is met with raving reviews from the Adult Contemporary scene.

Among the mesmerising arrangements, Petty tops it off with her equally alluring vocal performance which comes all soulful and soul-tuggingly gutsy.

‘So Sick of the Radio’ is taken her latest album, ‘The Darkness of Birds’, out now on all major download/streaming sites.
