EP Review: The Guild of Artisans – Redd Tunes Productions

Producer Rob “Redd Tunes” Brazao’s second project of the year, ‘The Guild of Artisans’  is the perfect chill out escapism from lockdown.

A melodic haziness of boombap/hip-hop works its way through the set, with guest emcees’ delivery easing through the tranquil bars.

One thing that certainly didn’t go unnoticed is the dopely askew vocals in intro track, ‘Distance’ by MansasWorld.

For all you hip-hop heads out there, it’s to immerse yourself into Redd Tunes’ ‘The Guild of Artisans’. This guy has been in the game for over 30 years, so you’re about to listen to some quality stuff…hit that play button below…

Song of the Day: Nina – Jay Ardz

Originally from Verona, Italy JAY ARDZ has been meticulously constructing a new wave of UK Rap tracks with Afro-swing elements that continue to elevate him as an upcoming artist to reach a peak altitude in his career.

His first track of 2020 ‘Nina’ displays making his dream of success a reality, whilst remembering the path that has made him who he is today.

Revolutionizing a new era of upcoming UK hitmakers, Jay Ardz has already begun to set the tone for what is to come following his recent success of ‘Roadside’ (2019) which caught the attention of popular mainstream platform GRM DAILY, and ‘Mia Khalifa’ (2019) which featured on Spotify’s ‘Afrobashment’ playlist.

Jay Ardz endeavours to continue developing his distinctive sound, honing his craft, and positioning himself accordingly so he can leave a striking impact on the UK Rap + Afro-swing scene.

Song of the Day: Third Degree Love Crimes – Lili Kendall

Australian singer/songwriter LILI KENDALL‘s single, ‘Third Degree Love Crimes’ chronicles the crazy things we do for love…we’ve all been there at some point in our lives – and if you pretend you haven’t experienced those feelings, then you’re in serious denial!

Produced by her good friend SLMN, the emotionally-charged soulful ballad is taken from her full-length debut album ‘Love, Herself’, released late last month. The project displays a transformative and healing body of work that chronicles womanhood, self-empowerment, love and life.

Hip-Hop Duo Re. Decay Shares Track, ‘In The Morning’

Hailing from Berlin, RE. DECAY‘s debut single, ‘Sun In The Morning’ is smothered with old school soul/funk vibes, spanning from the 80’s, underpinned with J Dilla-style hip-hop. The infectious number features ADH, Mawcom X & Sedric Perry adding extra spice to the nostalgic arrangements.

Speaking of the release Re. Decay says: “From the beginning, this song has been an expression of overcoming adversity. Mawcom X was almost unable to get us his verse because of power outages in Ghana but he made it happen. This is symbolic of the spirit of this song. The message is clear and true.”

Re.decay is comprised of Owen Ross and Emanuel Bender, both established musicians within their own right. Owen Ross has performed as both a solo artist (being featured in Huffington Post) as well as with the band Re-Up which opened for big names such as The Roots, Big Boi, Gym Class Heroes, OK Go!, Biz Markie and Afroman. He currently works with a wide range of up and coming artists.

Emanuel Bender has a decent rap sheet from his work as a producer with artists such as Alle Farben, Dillistone, Moli, Fhat and others. He has also worked on several International TV ads (BMW, AUDI and TOYOTA), created music for feature films, and released several successful unofficial remixes, including ones for Awolnation and Monsters and Men. As a result, the producer has received over 1.6 million plays across streaming platforms and reached Hype Machine #1 place multiple times.

Released last Friday (1st May), via SPRINGSTOFF, ‘In The Morning’ is lifted from their upcoming EP, ‘Down Long Enough’ out on 19th June.
