Amelle Rose shares her experience with postpartum depression in new single, ‘Congratulations’

AMELLE ROSE‘s new single ‘Congratulations’, sees the indie rock singer-songwriter delving into the depths of her experience with postpartum depression. Amelle crafts a melancholic piece that bravely confronts the unspoken struggles many mothers face. Through hauntingly cinematic melodies and poignant lyrics, the song opens a raw dialogue about the internal conflict of embracing motherhood while grappling with a profound sense of loss and identity crisis.

‘Congratulations’ serves as a courageous testament to this taboo subject, offering solace and understanding to those who find themselves silently struggling. Simultaneously, this invitation into Amelle’s world of vulnerability sparks conversations about the often overlooked struggles of new motherhood, pushing boundaries and challenging societal norms through evocative storytelling, ultimately resonating on a deeply human level.

Transforming songs into a powerfully introspective and atmospheric experience, Amelle Rose is able to navigate dreamy soundscapes inspired by deeply intimate memories and experiences, alongside gutsy indie rock songs that take advantage of fiercely honest lyrics and a distinctive, rebellious sound. Described by Clout as “creating a vulnerable and honest energy”, both sides of Amelle’s music are as wistful and brooding as they are strong, bold, and unapologetic.

Amelle is a 27 year-old singer-songwriter from France now making a new home for herself in Bristol. A lot of her work is focused around mental health and the human condition, which pairs beautifully with her distinctively open approach to composition and songwriting. Her debut album, ‘Conversations with Louise,’ released in 2022, marked a significant milestone in her artistic journey, showcasing her talent for fearlessly vulnerable and introspective storytelling. Now, with her latest offering, ‘Congratulations,’ she continues to delve into these themes, navigating the conflicting emotions and grey areas of postpartum struggles with raw honesty.

A Quick Chat With…Richi Camarena

When I heard RICH CAMARENA‘s uniquely blissful vocals on single, ‘Promise You’, my heart immediately melted…for some reason, on the single, he reminds me of a male version of Sadè…. and for that reason alone, I had to find out more about the Mexican singer/songwriter. I’m so glad I did, as Richi comes across as one of the most lovely and genuine person I’ve interviewed on NEW LEASE MUSIC. So please sit comfortably and get ready to be acquainted with this promising upcoming artist…

NLM: Hey, thank you for taking part in an interview with NEW LEASE MUSIC. How is 2024 treating you so far?

RC: Thank you for showcasing my music. It’s been a great year so far. I’ve got featured on your blog, I released a new single that was very well received, I’m also working on an EP and there’s a music video in the works for a future song.

NLM: You released your single, ‘Promise You’ back in March. What is the public perception of the single so far?

RC: I’ve received some DMs on social media about how they are using my song to tell their loved ones how they feel. This is song is on the list of some of my most streamed songs, so, I feel very very happy.

NLM: What inspired you to produce/write the single?

RC: My girlfriend was the reason behind the lyrics, she has been an incredible support and inspiration for my music. She was the one who suggested me to start making music. And, when she went through some rough times, I wrote her this song to make her feel better, it then became the full song itself.

NLM: How would you describe the single’s sound to potential fans?

RC: It is a love song that serves as a promise for your loved ones, one that you can listen to while driving with your partner, laying down with your eyes closed, or even when proposing to the people you want to spend the rest of your life with.

NLM: What message would you like the listeners to take away from your single?

RC: Love is as complicated as you want it to be. But, when you find the right person, loving is easy, everything just works. And, no matter how hard a situation might be, or how bad you might be feeling, the right person will always be there for you, and you will always be there for your special person.

NLM: Are there any plans to release an official video for the single?

RC: I thought about this at first, but I don’t think I will release a video for this song, I’m planning on doing one for a future song, but, for this one, definitely not.

NLM: If you had to feature one mainstream artist on ‘Promise You’, who would it be and why?

RC: This was a tough one, but I think Justin Bieber would be a great feature for this song.

NLM: What plans do you have in store for 2024?

RC: My intention is to release a few more singles, then an EP, an official music video and maybe, a small tour in my hometown.

Song of the Day: Unfolded (Put a Little Love) – Karmacoda

Following the recent release of their soulful single ‘Try At Me’ back in January, KARMACODA returns with another irresistibly soul piece, ‘Unfolded (Put a Little Love)’ released via Sola Musa Music.

‘Unfolded (Put a Little Love)’ is a sweet and stirring ode to the beautifully charged moment where you can no longer contain your feelings of love for somebody. Sonically, it is tender and moving – sprinklings of delicately soulful keys, lush yet minimal jazz percussion tinged with a hint of trip-hop and romantically cinematic synth strings gently pull the listener into that gooey feeling of smitten goodness. Jessica’s vocals, as usual, soar richly over this tapestry, singing passionately of the joy, power and rapture of new love blossoming.

Jessica shared: “It’s that feel good song with admittance of loving someone and letting them know how you feel. You can’t keep it a secret anymore. You gotta tell them, hoping they will feel the same. Mad crush vibes with a tinge of nervousness, when you finally let the cat out of the bag. Like “are you feeling what I’m feeling?” If so, let’s take this friendship to the next level, and I’m feeling excited so… put a little love in your heart and match me.”

KARMACODA comprises Jessica Ford (vocals), Brett Crockett aka B. (vocals and producer), and Japanese-American multi-instrumentalist Eric Matsuno (bass and unique elements). With an extensive discography and numerous awards, the trio has explored electronica, chill, trip-hop, R&B, rock, and dream pop in their two-decade career. Ever-evading genre constraints, KARMACODA’s evolving sound now blends soulful R&B and jazz lounge, earning comparisons to powerful artists like Adele, Alicia Keys, Leona Lewis, and Lana Del Rey.
