Asiahn Delivers Sultry Track, ‘Fall Back’

ASIAHN turns up the heat on her sultry new single, ‘Fall Back,’ , an age-old tale of falling too hard and too fast.

Remarkably, the R&B singer/songwriter wrote ‘Fall Back’ in about 15 minutes alongside producer Dreek Beatz. “The story behind the song is, well, true,” she laughs. “I know we’ve all been in a situation where we’re trying to get to know someone casually. Then, of course, she falls in love anyways. It’s a song telling that person to ‘fall back, you doing too much.’ Let’s just get to know each other and see if getting serious is even something we want to do.”

‘Fall Back’ continues the Los Angeles-based artist’s transition from lovesick songstress to empowered star, as showcased on her Motown debut, ‘The Interlude EP’, released earlier this year. The EP debuted on multiple Billboard charts and earned Asiahn Billboard’s Emerging Artist Spotlight, started at #33 on Apple Music Charts, and received support from fans and critics like Halle Berry, Lena Waithe, and Keke Palmer, to American Songwriter, Essence, Nylon, Refinery29 and MarieClaire.

Asiahn will also be playing the title character in the upcoming Netflix animated series, Karma’s World, created by Ludacris. The show tells “the story of a girl finding her voice and using it to change the world.” Sounds like the ideal role for this 3x-Grammy-nominated talent who continues her steady rise, which includes being named Pandora’s Artist to Watch 2021, participating in Live Nation’s Black History Month, and Tidal Sessions performances.

Baëbe Ruth Shares Sensuous Single, ‘Rendez-Vous’

BAËBE RUTH‘s brand new single, ‘Rendez-Vous’, is one of those tracks that you can imagine hearing on various radio stations regularly…without wearing thin. Featuring a forceful punch of soulful R&B, inspired from the late nineties or perhaps early noughties, ‘Rendez-Vous’, expresses the singer’s thoughts on a guy she was infatuated with. Although they had unbelievable connection, she never revealed her true feelings to him.

With that said, I do feel that Baëbe has an underline message to share with prospective listeners – that is, if you like someone – I mean REALLY like someone – then pluck up the courage and tell them!

If you’re in the exact same position, have a listen to ‘Rendez-Vous’ for some Dutch courage….

Kid Apollo Release Debut Single, ‘Let Go Of Things I Said’

Brixton, London based teenage trio KID APOLLO released their captivating debut single ‘Let Go Of Things I Said’ yesterday (7th September).

Consisting of singer and producer Jimmy HM and twin brothers (and producers) Felix and Theo Ratigan, the outfit’s self written and produced offering is a visceral, hushed R&B/pop hybrid, suggesting exciting things to come from the young trio.

Speaking on the release of the new track, singer Jimmy HM said: “‘let go of things I said’ tells the simple story of two people that rely heavily on each other yet refuse to accept it. It explains how the small things that happen between two people are often what breaks a relationship down.”

Commenting further on their goals, the band said: “We’re expressing our experiences within the way we live through our music. We aim to never restrict ourselves to one genre as this wouldn’t reflect the type of artists we are. Whether the songs are talking about relationships or our last function, all we really want when someone first listens to our music is for them to be in their own space and get lost in the songs.”

The band will release their debut EP later this year via Sweat Entertainment. Check out the official video for the emotive single below…

Song of the Day: Need To Know – Deanna Devore (ft. D.Lylez)

Chicago and Toronto based multi-instrumentalist, singer, songwriter, composer and producer, DEANNA DEVORE has teamed up with D.Lylez (a top 24 contestant on The Voice season 18), for single, ‘Need To Know’, a rich, lo-fi ambience, with a soothing, groovy melody, making for the perfect late-night production.

Written during the pandemic, Devore explains how the isolation elicited a long period of reflection. Described as a nostalgic song, ‘Need To Know’ reminisces about a certain someone, detailing that feeling of needing to know that they are thinking about you too. Lylez’s divine crystal clear vocals, his gentle falsettos and melodic agility complement the dancing keyboard motifs. Alongside the floaty, orchestral elements, there is a heavy neo-soul, jazz flush that brings an atmospheric wash, creating an ethereal musical diversion to help escape the uncertainty of the times.

Devore has seen success performing to sold-out venues and festivals across the map, such as Summerfest, CMJ, NXNE, and 80/35. She has had the pleasure of opening for renowned artists including Jamie Cullum, Bonobo and SG Lewis, as well as Raveena, Mother Mother and Yoke Lore. The composer has also been adding to her musical portfolio by scoring both feature & short films, as well as composing music for commercials including a Starbucks ad, podcasts and animation videos.
